With Love For Valentine

Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. Mr Postman kindly brought me some new goodies so I've been glued to the craft desk for two days now, lol. And here's one of the creations I've made.

I cut out a heart from cardstock and covered it with ribbon leftovers - I save all the short bits - and I made patterns on them with Liquid Pearls. Then they all got another thin layer with Liquid Pearls to make a better colour match.

The quilt is made with leftover paper strips, distressed with Distress Inks and glued onto a cardstock piece, then covered with PVA for a nice shine. The stitching is made with a sewing machine.

The letters are made with a TH alphabet die, gems are a gift from Hobby och Hantverk ( a Swedish craft store). The embroidery thread is from my stash.

Peace Everyday

Hope you had a wonderful weekend, we cleaned away all the last Christmas decorations so it really feels like a fresh and clean start on the new week. Here in Sweden we can wait until the 20th day of Christmas to put the decorations away, I guess it has something to do with the winter darkness, it's nice and cosy to have all the lights up.

I'll have Christmas all the year around in my craft space as I need a lot more cards to be made this year. So here's the first one with a new (to me) stamp from the sales, Penny Black's Peace Everyday.

Colours: Derwent watercolour pens, Sakura pens, Distress Inks for the flowers and swirls
Papers: MME Bella Bella, scrap pieces
Dies: Cuttlebug Flourishes, Sizzix Scribbles Swirl, Nestabilities Scalloped Circle, QK leaves
Accessories: Stickles, Papermania half pearls, sewing machine, twine and charm from my stash

I'm entering:

Simon Says Stamps Challenge: A wonderful sketch by Domi to follow
Penny Black Saturday Challenge: My choice from The Card Buffet is patterned paper, a charm, 3 flowers and a twine

The coffee filter album

I thought that I'll show some more pages from the coffee filter album. (Ha ha, I do sound like a teacher. Old habits sit hard! Bad habits even harder.) The pages are quite bare at the moment, I need to choose photos that will go into the album first and then make some more matching elements. But I do love the colours.

Different colours to accent different moods.

And what's on my work desk today? Not much, a linen fabric is covering half of it as I'm trying to figure out how to take better photos by my desk. Daylight is best by all means, but sometimes I have to wait several days for one that is bright enough to take a photo. I'm not complaining, all days are perfect for crafting in my book.

Visit Julia if you want to join the Wednesday fun.

Have a wonderful day!

Something New

Long time no see, but here I am, back from a nasty cold. I've been fiddling with an overloaded DT card so I needed to make something completely different for a change. It's for a young adult who just loooves all kind of computer games, just like his father does. LOL!

The image from Mo Manning is just perfect. I coloured it with my usual Derwent watercolour pens and too much water, the paper fibres didn't like that treatment at all, gah! My usual watercolour paper is too thick for the writer.

The wonderful design papers are from Stitchy Bears Stamps, a win from the Moving Along With The Times Challenge. My computer is loaded with new lovely digi goodies now. And speaking about wins I had one at The Scrapbook Sisters too. A wonderful start on the new year!

I'm entering:
Simon Says Stamps Challenge: New Beginnings! There are a lot of them in computer games.
Crafty Calendar Challenges: New Beginnings!
Mo's Challenge Blog: Going Retro! The dark browns, teal and orange are retro colours for me, something granddad had in his flat. The brown design paper reminds me very much of his wallpaper.

Have a wonderful evening and come back soon again for a visit!

First challenge of this year!

Hope you had a fantastic New Years Eve and are ready for a new challenge at Penny Black at Allsorts. This month we want you to create something on the theme "All you need is love", I did chose the love for my sons.

When our oldest one became a teenager I created a coffee filter album for photos showcasing him when he was little, it became a neutral ground to gather around after an emotional day. I guess all of you know what kind of days I'm talking about, they come to us all, the good days too!

My youngest son is also a teenager now so I've made a coffee filter album for him too. The covers are made of a thin fabric and the inner pages of a sturdy white card stock. The sides are sewn together with a sewing machine and the filter openings are left open for tags and more photos, even for keeping a hidden journal if you want to. You'll need some adhesives to attach the fabric and card stock, leave a gap for sewing otherwise the needle will be covered with adhesives. Mine is!

For this page I used ordinary cooking salt, a mini mister with water and Distress Inks, it gives a wonderful grainy effect on the paper.

I used the Illuminations stamp set and some text stamps from Hugs! and Christmas Treasures, Distress Inks, Colorbox white ink and Perfect Pearls.

The size of the album is perfect for all the smaller scrap pieces, just give them a few layers of inks to coordinate the chosen colours. It's a perfect project after Christmas, use what you have. I'm saving for an eyelet setter and eyelets, they will help to keep the punched holes nice.

We have wonderful challenge prizes from Penny Black....and our new sponsor PB Stamps are offering a lucky winner a lifetime 15% discount for products purchased from their store! We will also select a further winner from those who link up as a follower on our challenge blog this month.

We'll have a blog hop with even more prizes the 15th of January and you're welcome to grab our great blog hop logo and put it on your side bar if you want to help to spread the word.
